Increase OIL prices to save the world

Every eco friendly consumer concerned for the well being of the earth needs to work towards one goal: INCREASING THE PRICE OF OIL.

The logic is undeniable the price of oil increases:
  1. More environmentally friendly energy solutions become cost effective - Therefore we consume less oil.
  2. The Americans will spend more resources on developing alternative cleaner fuels - Therefore alternatives will become increasingly cheaper.

Currently OPEC and others dictate the price of OIL, this is purposely kept at a price point which makes alternatives uncomplaining. The only way to break the cycle is to force OIL prices up. The industrial development of China and the various conflicts in the middle east are helping. However you could make a difference - Use more OIL.

If you live in a country that supports the Kyoto agreement, use energy as quickly as possible, don't try to conserve it. If you go down the conservation route you'll just be leaving more OIL in the pot for less responsible states to use, forcing pollution to continue for longer.

Remember the quicker the oil reserves dwindle the higher the price will rise and the more effort and funds will be employed to deploy cleaner energy sources.

Although this approach seems counter intuitive, it has many advantages over the energy conservation route.

  1. It's easy to gain mass support because you are not stopping people from doing what they want to do, in fact you're just asking them to do more of it. VERY POPULAR.
  2. It's quicker to get to the same end result. A steep escalation in oil prices would make so many renewable resources viable that new cleaner products would be on the market within a few short years.
  3. The Americans would be forced to act quickly. Political pressure to supply the US infrastructure with cheaper energy would be massive. Far greater than the current political pressure to GO GREEN.
  4. The US rape seed stockpile created by Bush for BioDiesel will become increasingly viable.
  5. We'd burn less fossil fuels, because more of it would be left in the ground once alternatives were employed. Resulting in less carbon emissions and less harm to the environment.
